Cowichan River Provincial Park.
Pristine campsites.
Picturesque privies.
Profusion of tiger swallowtail butterflies, and...
P-E-R-F-E-C-T weather.
Cowichan's local boast is: "The Warm Land." 155 frost-free days/year, on average. (warm?)
This campsite is on a broad peninsula that's wrapped by the river. Campers with inner-tubes start at the upriver edge of the peninsula, and take the long, leisurely float 'round to the downriver edge.
A very pleasant trail circles this 750-hectacre park, through lush and virgin woodland. Adjacent to the park is the Trans Canada Trail, which I walked briefly. Decided not to take it all the way to Toronto.
A comfortable and comforting couple of days of "settling in" here at Cowichan. Heading north on Thursday to Miracle Beach.
