What's this blog about?
It's a travel log of a 4-5 week road trip I'm taking to Vancouver Island, British Columbia (B.C.) in my 35-year old BMW.
July 7th update: OOPS. See my "2nd Post" for an explanation of why I'm driving a 19-year old Volvo and not a 35-year old BMW.
The trip is a solo trip. Though I'm looking forward to meeting plenty of interesting people along the way.
Mostly I'll be car-camping. But I'll stay in motels and lodges when I need some comforts... or when there are no options for camping.
The trip consists of 3 main pieces:
1) camping in central and eastern Vancouver Island, July 5-15.
2) BC ferry transit and eco-touring in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park on the remote "Discovery Coast" of the B.C. mainland, mid-July.
3) lodge-hopping along the 'Wild Pacific Coast' on the western-most edge of Vancouver Island, late July.
Throughout the trip, there will be wilderness, wildlife... and weather.
Click on various 'pages' to the RIGHT for B.C. details.
My main activities will be hiking, lake swimming and touring. I'll be taking lots of photos. And I'll share any good ones on a Photobucket website that you can access by clicking on the 'Photo Gallery' page to the RIGHT..
I hope you'll want to follow along.
